The last school bell for Mrs. Sherrick's 1st grade class rang on June 13th. Bryce's teacher had a award ceremony for her class and invited all the parents to attend. Bryce received the "Greatest Improvement Award"! We are so proud off him. In the last 6 months a lot has happened in helping Bryce earn such an award....we found out that he had a vision problem and was unable to focus at school, and so he would get bored and get off task. He was at a level 4 reading which was low for where he needed to be by the end of the school year. We had a parent conference trying to figure out what needed to be done to help Bryce. This is when we pursued getting his eyes checked and found out that he had poor vision(he wasn't doing his work because he couldn't see well), we talked to his teacher and a counselor at the school and they put him in "HUGS"(hello-update-goodbye)this was where he would earn points thru out the day for finishing class work, reading, staying on task, etc...He is now at a level 16 for reading which is above where he needed to be to head to 2nd grade and has really been able to stay focused since we have worked on correcting his "lazy eye". So as you can see by the improvement that has taken place in such a short period, the award was well deserved! Also some of you might not have known, but Bryce was also named May's student of the month at school for "Most Improved" and got to eat lunch with the principle. He is so proud of himself and we are proud of him too!

Way to go, Bryce. We are so proud of you. You know, Savannah had to get glasses too. She could not see the board and was squinting a lot. She was so excited to get her glasses, because that meant she could finally see. I bet you are so glad to finally be done for the summer. We wish we could come and swim with you. I have awesome pictures of all of us at the pool that day we got to come see you last year. Have a really fun summer! We love yall!!
Hooray Bryce! Great job on your hard work!
