DECEMBER 27, 1979

There's something haughty and erudite about a December 27 Capricorn. They elevate style to an art yet are practical and down to earth. When they achieve their aims, it's the result of hard work. Their authoritarian nature makes them good at handling others, particularly in the workplace. They are demanding and have a perfectionist streak and can, at times, seem intolerant of others' mistakes. They're loyal to friends and will provide emotional support in times of trouble. Their pragmatism is displayed in romance -- they know what they want and seldom deviate from it.

Given their appreciation for the status quo, December 27 individuals are happy to be part of a family group. Though their upbringing may have been strict, they are grateful for the lessons they learned. They are equally strict with their children, though they strive for a balance of love and discipline.

People born on this date are sticklers for staying fit. They follow a restricted diet and get enough
exercise. They have somewhat old-fashioned ideas about what kind of exercise is most helpful, feeling it's better to keep fit by leading an active lifestyle than by going to a gym every day. ( I am pretty sure I am the exception :)

People born on this date are excellent at getting others to work at their highest potential so make good supervisors and bosses. They are about as good as it gets when it comes to handling money.(I like to think so, and try to convince Brandon of this..haha) Although conservative, they know there are times risks are unavoidable. The combination of these disparate attitudes makes them expert financial planners.

Getting to the top of their profession is a natural goal for December 27 people, but even their ambition has a practical side. They know better than to ignore all other aspects of life. They feel their existence is fulfilled only if they can experience the joys of family life.

Lately, knowing that this day was coming, I was a little scared.  I couldn't get my mind around turning 29, all I could think about was that next is 30...eekk!  I am glad that I have been surrounded by such awesome family and friends.  I have many things that I want to do this year before I make the next BIG leap.  The piece up top states that I have the potential of having a fulfilled life and so far I feel I have, I am now looking foward to continuing my journey...29 is just a number right?

More Snow Pics...

Well we have really been enjoying the snow and Bryce has had three days off this week so far. They news is stating that we are going to see more snow tonight and then again on Sunday. Today the kids and I went out and built a snowman, Kayla named her Sally. So after we were done building Sally we came inside and had a mug of yummy hot chocolate with marshmellows. Bryce, Kayla & Maddy had a great time and even though it was colder than what I would have liked I had fun just enjoying being with my kids.

Cute...

Bryce: "Jesus must be really big."
Brandon: "Why do you say that?"
Bryce: "Because rain is his tears."
Brandon: "Then you need to stop doing things that make him cry."

Atleast new to me

I would like to say how thankful I have been for my good friend "Kenmore" When Brandon and I got married 9 years ago we went to DI and purchased our 1st washer/dryer set for about $150. At the time the washer and dryer were about 25 years old, they reminded me of my childhood because my mom had a set just like them.

Well about 3 years ago our washer died and we upgraded it but our good friend "Kenmore" dryer was still goin' strong. The other day a lady at church stated she was in need of finding a home for a dryer that she was giving away. I started to get excitied thinking about not having to pull the lent container out once more with a butter knife...whoo! So I asked her about the dryer that she had, and even went and looked at it after church. It was love at 1st sight..."kenmore" didn't even have a chance!

It is 20 years newer and works fabulous...When I set the timer for the clothes to dry in 30 minutes, it actually takes 30 min and not 90 min (3 times of me turning it back again and again) So this is goodbye to "Kenmore" and welcome "Maytag" She looks BEAUTIFUL!! Every time I pass my "Maytag" washer and dryer now I stop and stare! It almost makes me enjoy doing laundry now :) I said almost didn't I...

Twilight...

Well let me start out by saying that I am not a big reader of fiction books, especially vampires and all along have been putting off getting caught up unlike many others in Twilight. I have heard somethings through my friend Jojo who has been reading the books. Maybe one day I will pick up the book(s) and read it. Well I had mentioned to Jojo that we could make it a girls night out to see the movie, mostly just to get out of the house...then yesterday she called and invited me to go to the to the midnight showing of the movie with her and her husband . So I went, and I actually liked it. Here are a couple things to keep in mind if you are planning on attending a Twilight movie...

#1. Bring ear plugs, because there is alot of screaming

#2. Be preparerd to be surrounded by 90% high schoolers

So other than those 2 things and the cheesy employees at the movie theater trying to dress like the charaters in the movie, on a scale of 1-10, worst-best, I give it an
8.

Family Fun Night!

Brandon and I took the kids bowling for the 1st time. Let's just say I don't think we will do it ever again. Not that it wasn't enjoyable, but the night went extremely slow. If you ever take children bowling there are a couple things you should know...

1st-You will never find a bowling ball that weighs less than 10lbs.
2nd -Bumpers are a must
3rd-You will spend most of your night waiting for their ball to get to the pins.

We paid for an hour of bowling and there happen to be problems with the lane that we were on, so then we switched to another lane and then another...with kids this was very time consuming to say the least. Well to make a longer story short we ended up leaving with 2-$25 dollar VIP passes to come back.

We enjoyed going back, but not to bowl, we ende
d up playing games in the Arcade and then eating pizza...it was a way better experience. So if you plan on ever going bowling, I would suggest leaving it to the adults.

But here are a few kodak moments we were able to capture while it lasted.

Barbosa, Colombia

"Along with the need for young elders and sisters, there is a growing need for couples in the mission field. Older married couples are doing a wonderful work in the missions. Many more are needed. . . . With an increasing number of people retiring while they are still possessed of health and vitality, there are many who can fill a tremendous need in the work of the Lord."

—President Gordon B. Hinckley

For those who maybe didn't know, my parents left June 2008 to serve in Bogota, Colombia. I have always admired their strength in the gospel, learned by their example, and even relied on their testimonies growing up. I know there were many times when they thought what they told me went in one ear and out the other, but in my heart I always knew they were right.

As soon as they arrived in Bogota, they found out they were going to actually be in a town I believe was on the outskirts of Bogota, called Barbosa...they have been busy with gardening projects ,weekly English and music lessons , and even witnessed their first traffic accident. My parents have always had the ability to come up with great ideas for serving others. For example, hearing about their secret Santa missions at Christmas time...I can't really go into detail because there might be people reading this that would let the "cat out of the bag." But little things to serve others to see them smile, leaving them puzzled or so confused they actually called the police...haha!

Mom and Dad I just want to let you know that we love you and miss you...but at the same time know that you are serving the Lord and he needs those welling to teach and bring his children back to him. We are proud of you!

Pumpkin Carving

This year I was not that excited about Halloween. I don't really have a reason as to why, maybe it had to do with the crowds at the pumpkin patches & pricey costumes made out of poor material. So this year, we skipped the pumpkin patch, corn mazes and haunted houses and decided to just buy several pumpkins and carve them together as a family at home. The best part was just letting go and letting the kids dig the goop out of the pumpkins. They picked the picture of the owl out and then I had the idea to do the girls hands from Joanna, who saw a pumpkin done this way. They turned out really cute and we received lots of complements at Trunk-or-Treat.

I forgot that we did take the kids to the FANTASY TRAIL...it is a trail all lite up with halloween decorations...here are a couple pics from that.
