MILWAUKIE, Ore. – A local hospital went into lockdown Monday night after a man armed with a gun threatened to kill himself in the parking lot, police said.

According to Milwaukie police, officers responded to a report of a suicidal person outside Milwaukie Providence Hospital at 10150 S.E. 32nd Ave. about 8 p.m. and found the man in front of the emergency room threatening to kill himself if anyone approached him.

The hospital was placed in lockdown and all ambulance traffic was diverted as a precautionary measure, police said.

The Clackamas County SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Team responded, and the man was taken into custody without incident about 9:30 p.m.

The man, whose name was not released, may face criminal charges in the incident.

Afton, I am glad you are alright! Scary-the things people do and involve others in. I just don't understand it. Did he go into the hospital and try to get treatment before this all happened? Did you see him?

Wow, I am so glad he didn't go into the hospital and that you didn't actually see him. I was worried that at some point you had come face to face with him. I am also glad the poice and SWAT team seemed to have everything under control. I am glad you are ok!
